JACK DUPON (psy-avantgarde-rock, FR)

JackDupon is a trio with bass, drums, guitar, and vocals, who convey their music with ritualistic poetry and fragments of fractal motifs in mosaic form. One could characterize this music as minimalist rock à la Shellac, psychedelic, avant-garde, or Rock in Opposition, but the band rejects all these influences, embracing freedom and the need to respect no stylistic rules as their way of being, to create an instrumental ritual in which listeners are guided by falsely innocent or fragile bubbles of singing. One could still mention Fred Frith, Primus, King Crimson, Zappa, Etron Fou Leloublan, The Ex, and aggressive atmospheres reminiscent of The Birthday Party (Nick Cave). One could talk about soundscapes, dancing traces, Oulipo-inspired poetry, angry breaks, and changes of mood, with twisted mastery and the ability to make opposing rhythms dance. An ultra-prolific band, since 2004, JackDupon has shared their moods across the four corners of the world, met and connected with people during their tours and through their ten or so albums.

WAR (doomgaze, Leipzig)

WAR mischen Doomgaze mit Grunge und einer Note Emo, nur halt ohne Drama. Mit der Attitüde irgendwo zwischen feingeistigem Dunst und zwei Schippen Wut im Bauch, ballern sich die drei ihre Schneise durch die Musiklandschaft. Mehrstimmige Vocals mit von Weltschmerz geprägten Texten monieren alles und nichts, während sphärische Mantrapatterns im bröckeligen Fuzzgewitter aufgehen. Unterm Strich jagt eine Soundwand die nächste. Sozialkritik gibts auch. Hauptsache mächtig Druck im Magendreieck hinterlassen. Vereint in Freude an Lautstärke: Arvid (Lingua Nada & Oat), Fred (Trecker) und Tim (Nikita Curtis). Für Leute, die auf Laut stehen und gerne Zählzeiten auschecken.
